This is Volume One of our 'MasteRam 64 Collection' series
of RAM/Voice cards for the Casio VZ-1, VZ-10M and VZ-8M keyboard synthesizers,
as well as the PG-380 guitar synthesizer.
This card contains 64 high quality
'Normal' programs as well as 64 'Operation Memories' (OM). The 64 Normal
programs will provide 16 voice polyphony and a homogeneous sound across the
entire keyboard.
The OM's, however, consist of various keyboard Splits, Layers,
and Crossfades that are constructed from up to a total of four of the Normal
programs. The total polyphony for each of the OM's will vary depending on how
many sounds have been utilized. A four voice Layer (consisting of four sounds)
will cut the available polyphony to four voices. A Split program that uses only
two sounds will provide eight note polyphony on each half of the keyboard, etc.
We have spent a great deal of time programming the Normal programs in an attempt
to provide you with the most powerful 'regular' types of patches available.
There are a few reasons for this. First, in the 'Multi' mode you cannot access
the OM's. Second, you use the normal patches to construct your own OM's. The
individual Normal programs have to be of high quality and be able to 'stand on
their own', if they are to offer satsifactory results in the Multi mode. So even
though we have provided a barrage of OM's, they are only a 'suggestion' on how
one might combine the different Normal sounds into differing combinations. We
strongly urge you to read the section of the manual that describes the creation
and storage of the OM's. This will greatly increase the musical power of your
instrument and yourself.
NOTE: Unfortunately the VZ's display does not indicate
which type of OM has been programmed or the number of voices that are available
at any time. We have made an attempt to provide somewhat descriptive names to
the OM's to give you some idea of the type of program it is. The OM program list
inside this manual also provides a key as to the type of OM, but you will have
to experiment to determine the polyphony for each one. Something else: the
PG-380 cannot access the OM's. Sorry, but that's the way Casio built the thing! |
